Ticker Tape

A bespoke LED digital display store feature for Shakedown in Edinburgh, taken from a designer's concept to a fully functioning in-store attraction. Concept, design, build, install and control, all handled by one team.

The Journey · End to End

From a sketch to a living screen.

Every stage handled in-house, so the vision that started on paper is the one that ends up on the wall.

The Vision

The concept came from Shakedown's own designer: a screen that ran the length of the counter and pulled people in off the street. Our job was to make it real, to take that look and turn it into a working LED installation without losing an ounce of what made the design special.

The Engineering

We chose the LED panels and the controller that would do the concept justice, then recreated the bespoke metal framework from scratch. It had to match the designer's exact look while actually housing the panels, power supplies and control gear, so we re-engineered every bracket and channel to hide the hardware and hold the run dead straight.

The Fabrication

With the framework designed, we had it manufactured to spec: the custom metalwork built to carry the screens, the power and the controllers as one clean unit. Everything was made to our drawings so it would drop into the store and take the LED panels without a fight.

On Site

On site we mounted the framework, ran the power and data, then fitted the LED screens to the panels and commissioned the whole run in place. The curved section around the counter was the careful part: aligning a continuous line across a bend so the ticker reads as one unbroken screen.

The Control App

Alongside the hardware we built Shakedown a bespoke web application to run the screens from inside the store. Staff change the everyday ticker and react to whatever is happening on the floor, a product release, a birthday party, a celebration, firing the right content in a couple of taps. The wipe, chevrons and chomper you are driving on the model above all live in that app.

The Attraction

The finished piece does exactly what the concept promised: a living counter that catches the eye from the pavement and keeps working every trading hour, now in the hands of the Shakedown team. Content changes with the day and the moment, and the whole system is monitored and kept alive by us.
